E. Michael Lewiecki To Be Presented With International Society’s Highest Honor
SAN DIEGO – February 2, 2006 – The International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), the world’s leading organization in the field of bone densitometry, will honor E. Michael Lewiecki, M.D., FACP, CCD with the prestigious Dr. Paul D. Miller ISCD Service Award for his dedication to the success of the Society. Dr. Lewiecki will be honored at Saturday’s business meeting.
"It has been a great privilege to have the opportunity to work with the many fine people associated with the ISCD,” said Dr. Lewiecki. “I am honored to receive this award, named in recognition of Dr. Paul Miller, who had the vision and dedication to lead the way to establishing a society dedicated to excellence in the assessment of skeletal health."
Dr. Lewiecki, M.D., FACP, CCD is Osteoporosis Director of New Mexico Clinical Research & Osteoporosis Center in Albuquerque, NM, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. He was President of the ISCD from 2003 to 2005, has served as a Board member for many years, and chaired and served on numerous committees. He has been influential in developing the Position Development Conference and writing the scientific papers for the ISCD Official Positions. His leadership skills and many innovative ideas have contributed to the growth and success of the ISCD.
The Dr. Paul D. Miller ISCD Service Award, named for the founding president of the Society, is presented annually to a member for distinguished service and dedication to advancing the goals of ISCD.
ABOUT ISCD: The ISCD is a not-for-profit multidisciplinary professional society with a mission to enhance knowledge and quality of bone densitometry among healthcare professionals, to provide continuing education courses for clinicians and technologists, to increase patient awareness and access to bone densitometry, and to support clinical and scientific advances in the field.
