ABOUT ISCD
The International Society for Clinical Densitometry
(ISCD) is a multidisciplinary, nonprofit organization that provides
a central resource for a number of scientific disciplines with an
interest in the assessment of skeletal health. The Society was founded in June
1993 as the result of a meeting of a group who recognized the need
to bring disciplines together for this single purpose. The Society
was the first of its kind worldwide.
Membership in ISCD has
grown steadily since the organization's inception and now stands
at over 6,000 doctors, technologists, and other allied health providers
in over 60 countries and regions. The Society currently has 60% of its members
as physicians and 40% as densitometry technologists in more than
30 disciplines. Disciplines represented include: nephrologists,
endocrinologists, radiologists, rheumatologists, gynecologists,
densitometry technologists, and nurses -- therefore, the Society
reflects an optimal approach to the care and diagnosis of patients
with metabolic bone disease across a broad span.
