This is the first in a series of DXA images, which were submitted and selected to receive special recognition at the 2015 ISCD Scientific Meeting held in Chicago, Illinois.
Submitted by: Angela Giardino, MD at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
The patient is a 66 year old black female referred for an initial DXA exam. Spine exam showed multiple densities adjacent to and/or overlying L3-L5 and the sacrum on the right. T-score at L4 was elevated.
- What are the abnormalities visualized in this DXA image of the lumbar spine?
- Given these scan images and BMD values, what would be a reasonable course to follow next?
