Additional ISCD Educational Opportunities

International Society for Clinical Densitometry
15th Annual Meeting
Impact of New Paradigms on Skeletal Assessment: Are You Prepared?

Walt Disney World

March 11-14, 2009

The following educational opportunities require separate registration and fees.

Bone Densitometry Course
Tuesday and Wednesday, March 10-11, 2009

The ISCD Bone Densitometry Course is divided into two programs. The Clinician Course (open to MDs, PhDs, DOs, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants) is most appropriate for those involved in the interpretation of DXA scans. The Technologist Course (open to Technologists and Allied Health Professionals) is most appropriate for those involved in the performance of the bone densitometry examination. Clinician Course for Technologists: Technologists may attend the Clinician Course if gaining information about interpreting DXA scans would assist them with their job responsibilities. However, it is recommended that the Technologist Course be taken first.

The core elements of the program provide a set of standard practices and information to raise the level of awareness and education in bone densitometry. The course emphasizes central DXA testing. In addition, a solid foundation in other forms of bone mass measurement, including peripheral DXA and QCT is provided.

Vertebral Fracture Assessment
Saturday, March 14, 2009

The ISCD Vertebral Fracture Assessment (VFA) course is an advanced densitometry course that provides an overview of VFA technology. This new technology offers a significant advance in the diagnosis and management of patients at risk for osteoporotic fractures by allowing clinicians to identify and treat those who would not be recognized using a bone density test alone. The course is open to clinicians, technologists, scientists, researchers, and healthcare providers who wish to learn more about VFA and its use.

ISCD’s 1st Pediatric Bone Densitometry Course
Saturday, March 14, 2009

This is the first comprehensive educational bone densitometry course devoted to assessment of children and adolescents. The course is held in conjunction with and immediately following the ISCD Annual Meeting, March 11-14, 2009. The Annual Meeting will include a state-of-the-art Pediatric Symposium on Saturday, March 14, 2009.  A Pediatric One-Day Rate will be offered which includes the Pediatric Bone Densitometry Course and Pediatric Symposium. To take advantage of this offer, select this option on the course registration form.
