Bone Densitometry Course
Tuesday and Wednesday, March 10-11, 2009
The ISCD Bone Densitometry Course is divided into two programs. The Clinician Course (open to MDs, PhDs, DOs, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants) is most appropriate for those involved in the interpretation of DXA scans. The Technologist Course (open to Technologists and Allied Health Professionals) is most appropriate for those involved in the performance of the bone densitometry examination. Clinician Course for Technologists: Technologists may attend the Clinician Course if gaining information about interpreting DXA scans would assist them with their job responsibilities. However, it is recommended that the Technologist Course be taken first.
The core elements of the program provide a set of standard practices and information to raise the level of awareness and education in bone densitometry. The course emphasizes central DXA testing. In addition, a solid foundation in other forms of bone mass measurement, including peripheral DXA and QCT is provided.

Vertebral Fracture Assessment
Saturday, March 14, 2009
The ISCD Vertebral Fracture Assessment (VFA) course is an advanced densitometry course that provides an overview of VFA technology. This new technology offers a significant advance in the diagnosis and management of patients at risk for osteoporotic fractures by allowing clinicians to identify and treat those who would not be recognized using a bone density test alone. The course is open to clinicians, technologists, scientists, researchers, and healthcare providers who wish to learn more about VFA and its use.
