*All Meet the Professor sessions require pre-registration. Due to space, these sessions will be limited to the first 30 registrants.
Hands-on Workshops will be first come, first served; No preregistration is required.
All workshops and symposia (excluding the Pediatric Symposium) are proposed topics.
Needs Statement:
The incidence of osteoporotic fractures is increasing both in North America and globally. Contributing to this is aging of the population, suboptimal diet and exercise in children and adolescents leading to low peak bone mass, more sedentary lifestyles in many parts of the world, and an increase in the prevalence of diseases and use of medications that lower bone mass. The need for tailored screening, diagnosis and treatment suitable for different cultures is therefore increasingly important. To this end, new technologies and treatments should be assessed and appropriate standards and guidelines developed and implemented. Position statements arising from ISCD conferences will be helpful in this regard. The ISCD Annual Meeting will help as a forum to educate healthcare professionals and assist them to successfully diagnose, prevent and treat osteoporosis worldwide.
Target Audience
The target audience for this educational activity is clinicians, technologists, researchers, scientists, and healthcare providers who wish to learn the skills and techniques of quality skeletal assessment to implement in their practice.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Recognize the advantages and limitations of the FRAX model to develop an effective management strategy for your patients with low bone mass
- Apply the recommendations of the 2007 Adult and Pediatric Position Development Conferences in the evaluation and treatment of skeletal diseases
- Discuss the benefits and limitations of bone mass assessment from various imaging modalities to improve your clinical practice
Accreditation Statement
The International Society for Clinical Densitometry is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to offer continuing medical education for physicians.
Credit Designation
The International Society for Clinical Densitometry designates this educational activity for a maximum of 19.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
ISCD will be applying for ASRT Category A Continuing Education Credit.
Policy on Commercial Support and Conflict of Interest
The ISCD maintains a policy on the use of commercial support, which ensures that all educational activities sponsored by the ISCD provide in-depth presentations that are fair, balanced, independent and scientifically rigorous. All faculty and planners are required to complete a Conflict of Interest form. This information will be made available through syllabus materials. |
