Vertebral Fracture Assessment Course

As the world leader in bone densitometry certification, the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), provides comprehensive educational courses in bone densitometry and offers certification for those who perform DXA scans and those who interpret the results.

The ISCD Vertebral Fracture Assessment (VFA) Course is an advanced densitometry course that provides an overview of VFA technology. This new technology offers a significant advance in the diagnosis and management of patients at risk for osteoporotic fractures by allowing clinicians to identify and treat those who would not be recognized using a bone density test alone.  This half-day course is open to clinicians, technologists, scientists, researchers, and healthcare providers who wish to learn more about VFA and its use.

Course Objectives

After attending the course, participants will be better prepared to:

  • Incorporate clinical risk factors that predict future fracture into your decision-making to maximize diagnosis of patients with osteoporosis
  • Utilize VFA as indicated in the 2007 Official Positions to optimize clinical management decisions for your patients with osteoporosis
  • Apply the recommendations of the 2007 Official Positions for identifying and reporting fractures on VFA

Course Lectures

1.  Introduction to Vertebral Fracture Assessment (VFA)

2.  Technical Aspects of VFA Imaging

3.  VFA Examples

4.  Principles of Reporting VFA

5.  Faculty Discussion Panel

CME Credit Designation
The International Society for Clinical Densitometry designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credits commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Accreditation Statement
The International Society for Clinical Densitometry is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to offer continuing medical education for physicians.

CE Credit Qualification
Approved by the ASRT for 4.75 Category A continuing education credits. Technologists must sign in and out each day to verify attendance and receive credit. Partial credit will not be given.

Course Prerequisites

It recommended, but not required, that registrants attend the ISCD Bone Densitometry Course (Clinician or Technologist) prior to attending the VFA course.
