Pediatric Position Development Conference

The primary aim of the Pediatric PDC is to develop recommendations that inform pediatric clinicians as to which children are at risk for bone loss, what assessment tools are most effective in the evaluation of bone health, how to interpret bone density results, and what management strategies are available to optimize bone density and prevent the devastating complications associated with osteoporosis.

The last ISCD pediatric position development conference, which assembled pediatric bone health experts from all over the world, was held in 2007. Significant scientific advancement over the past five years demands the review of the current positions and necessitates the reconvening of experts to develop new evidence-based guidelines.

The International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD) is partnering with the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) to offer this Pediatric Position Development Conference on Thursday, October 3, 2013 prior to the ASBMR 2013 Annual Meeting.

Topics to be addressed:

Task Force 1: Technologies that Assess Bone Density of the Peripheral Skeleton, Chair: Judith Adams, MB BCh MRCGP (University of Manchester, UK)
