On March 4, 2008, U.S. Senators Ken Salazar (D-CO) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME) filed a bill to remedy the Medicare cuts to DXA. S. 2702, is the Senate companion to H.R. 4206, the "Medicare Fracture Prevention and Osteoporosis Testing Act of 2007" first introduced in November of 2007 by Representatives Berkley and Burgess. The bills would freeze DXA rates at 2006 levels or approximately $140 while a study is conducted regarding the effect of the cuts on patient access to quality osteoporosis testing.
